About the "Jewels of Mariapia"

“J'écris ton nom”
The universe of paper jewelry of Mariapia Zepponi

Pure and precious, lightweight and ductile, antique and innovative: the jewel of paper was founded in the sixties of the twentieth century, during a period of extraordinary artistic and cultural renewal, thanks to the genial intuition of two young London artists: Wendy Ramshaw and David Watkins.

Since then there have been countless artists who have ventured into the jewel of paper and one of the most important collections of European design, the Museum of the Triennale in Milan in 2009, has collected more than 100, in a show that is already historic and memorable.

Mariapia Zepponi, born in Fabriano, the city of the Paper, has chosen to continue this successful tradition of artistic jewel of paper.

The landing to the jewel of paper, it was natural for Mariapia, like dew which opens a flower. After she worked creating paper, ceramics and stained glass windows - three of the most ancient and noble art techniques – she has crowned this “virtuoso” route with the art of goldsmith.

The stones, metals and paper - in Mariapia Zepponi jewels - sensitive dialogue describing cosmic visions, the harmony of infinite that appeals to men and nature.

An artistic ideal that is in continuity with a great protagonist of the sculpture of the twentieth century - who was also born in Fabriano - Edgardo Mannucci (1904-1986). The protagonist on the international art scene with his sculptures and his jewels, suspended between cosmic energy and material.

Paper: daughter of the nature and masterful men wisdom, in Mariapia Zepponi jewels, is an infinite vision and immense emotion.

Pura Vida.

Paper: Vestal and the nymph of the word and sign power, in these jewels sings the joy of continual becoming, as the great French poet Paul Eluard, in his famous Liberté (1942) wrote:
On all pages read
On all the white pages
Stone blood paper or ash
I write your name
